Microfinish

A true American success story, Microfinish owner Bill Jernigan started his polishing company with two friends at age 22 with $15,000. Prior to this, he had worked as a certified welder, oil rig engine manager, laundromat supervisor, apartment-building manager and city truck driver.
“The financing that CCDC provides is crucial. Its longer-term, lower interest rates free up immediate capital so you can grow your company.”

Today Microfinish has nearly 50 employees and is the nation’s leading polisher, providing finishing services for products such as spinal and knee implants, military helicopter parts, Harley-Davidson motorcycle rotors and after-market automotive fixtures. It’s also the largest blow-mold polisher, providing molds for plastic Coca-Cola bottles and three-dimensional laser engraving.
CCDC helped provide financing for Microfinish to adapt and add on to an existing 28,000-square-foot building as well as purchase equipment such as five high-speed tumbling machines, each valued at about $50,000.
A licensed airplane pilot and frequent motorcycle racer, Bill said he’d certainly recommend CCDC to other growing companies. He attributes his success to his love of working, his optimism, his commitment to diversifying his customer base—and luck.
“It didn’t come easy. I’ve been through hard times and often didn’t draw a paycheck, but I believe if you work hard, life works for you,” Bill added.
